Healing: A Journey of Letting Go

"The true meaning of healing is to let go. Letting go of all the things that have hurt you."

When I first started exploring the theme of healing, I had no idea what it truly meant. I thought healing was about engaging in activities that temporarily cleared my mind, like window shopping or other distractions. However, these moments of relief only lasted for a few minutes or perhaps a day. So, I continued searching for answers.

It was then that I began reflecting on my past childhood traumas and bad memories. I started writing about my deepest thoughts and feelings, listing every person who had hurt me during my childhood. This process helped me identify what was still triggering me. It was incredibly challenging at first, with tears streaming down my cheeks as I wrote.

Of course, this wasn't something I accomplished in a single day. It took me months to truly understand that I was not the problem.

"Hurt people, hurt people."

I wholeheartedly agree with this statement. People who are hurt and haven't done the inner healing work tend to project their insecurities and pain onto others.

For unhealed parents, this often means projecting their hurt and insecurities onto their children. If the child doesn’t learn to heal, they may also pass down their pain, creating what is known as generational trauma. This leads to a dangerous cycle.

So, how do we heal?

By learning to identify, acknowledge, and accept our trauma. You must accept that it has happened to you and that it has hurt you. But never blame yourself or others, as this can only cause more pain. Learn to accept and let go.

When you understand what is hurting you, you will be better equipped to set boundaries. Setting boundaries is crucial in the healing journey as it helps build self-esteem. It gives you a sense of self-respect and allows you to regain your power by protecting yourself from unhealed individuals.

Start practicing mindfulness and self-care to calm your nervous system. People who have faced or are living with trauma often experience prolonged exposure to stress. Trauma can put a person at risk of severe mental and physical health conditions. Some may turn to substances and alcohol to cope and suppress their feelings and traumas, leading to unhealthy cycles.

Healing is a journey. It requires patience, self-compassion, and the willingness to let go of the things that no longer serve you. But in the end, it is a journey worth taking.

Disclaimer: I am not a doctor or a psychologist. Everything written here is based on my own experiences and advice from doctors, psychologists, and therapists throughout my healing journey. My intention is to raise awareness, especially among young people in my country, about the importance of mental health care, which is as crucial as physical health. If you are experiencing severe stress, please seek help from professional doctors and therapists.

Lastly, I hope all readers find solace, inspiration, and a gentle reminder from this theme that you are not alone. You are worthy of love and peace. May the scars of your past become testaments to your strength and courage, and may the wounds of yesterday blossom into seeds of tomorrow’s growth. May you find the support and understanding you need along the way, and may each day bring you closer to a place of inner peace, healing, and wholeness. Your journey is valid, and you are not alone. Wishing you gentleness, patience, and unwavering belief in your own capacity to heal and thrive.
